Falconets Beat Rwanda in U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, started their 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Rwanda in Kigali on Sunday.

The match, played at the Kigali-Pele Stadium in the Nyamirambo district, was tightly contested, with both teams unable to score in the first half.

The breakthrough came in the 70th minute when Alaba Olabiyi finished from a goalmouth scramble after a corner kick, giving Nigeria the win and delighting new Head Coach Moses Aduku in his first game in charge.

The Falconets will host the return leg against Rwanda at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Saturday.

The Nigerian delegation is expected back home on Monday morning.
