Fatai Osho resigns as Head Coach of Akwa United
SportsRation confirms reports that Fatai Osho has resigned from his position as the head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League side Akwa United FC.
His decision to throw in the towel is entirely due to the challenging start to the season for Akwa United FC, where the team has struggled to secure favorable results under his tutelage.
Osho was unveiled as Akwa United FC head coach with the mandate to lead the clu to league glory or at least a continental spot but all has not been well for the 2021 Nigeria Premier Football League champions.
Under Osho’s leadership, Akwa United recorded three wins in 14 league matches, placing them in the relegation zone of the NPFL table, in the 17th position.
The team’s recent 1-0 away defeat to Heartland FC who also recently changed coaches, marked Osho’s last game in charge of Akwa United FC.
Osho took on the role of head coach at the beginning of the current NPFL campaign. The struggles and the team’s position in the league have contributed to his decision to step down.
The resignation signals a period of transition for Akwa United as they seek a new direction and leadership to improve their performance in the NPFL.
Akwa United FC will begin the Post-Osho era with a 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League week 15 clash vs Sunshine Stars on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
At the time of this report, the club has not released official communicaton on the resignation of coach Osho who signed a one-year contract just befor the start of the season.
