Favour Ofili strengthens Olympic readiness with double Victories in Florida

Nigeria’s star speedster, Favour Ofili, showcased her exceptional form and readiness for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with double sprint victories at the Mike Holloway Pro Classic in Florida. This event, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour silver series, served as a crucial competition leading up to the Olympics.

Ofili’s performance in Florida reaffirmed her dominance on the track. In the women’s 100m final, she finished in a thrilling photo finish, clocking 11.07 seconds to edge out her training partner, Candace Hill, who also recorded the same time. Leah Bertrand secured third place.

Not long after her 100m triumph, the 21-year-old sprinter returned to dominate the 200m race. Ofili clocked 22.36 seconds (-0.2) to win decisively, well ahead of Hill, who finished in 22.62 seconds, and Adaejah Hodge, who came in third.

Ofili’s recent victories are a testament to her impressive form, as she has consistently secured wins in her past few races this season, with her last defeat dating back to May. These performances are strong indicators of her readiness and confidence as she heads to Paris for the Olympics.

The Nigerian champion aims to make a significant impact in her Olympic debut, with aspirations of reaching at least one of the sprint finals and securing a strong position finish. This will mark the beginning of her quest to establish herself as a major sprint force in the future.
