FC Porto stun Arsenal with late-winner in the Champions League

In a dramatic turn of events at the Estádio do Dragão, Arsenal were stunned as Porto snatched a late winner, in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first clash on Wednesday night.

The Gunners entered the match on the heels of a convincing 5-0 triumph over Burnley, exuding confidence as they took on Porto.

However, their hopes fell-flat in the final minutes as they succumbed to a 1-0 loss, placing immense pressure on Mikel Arteta’s side to secure a win in the second leg.

FC Porto made a solitary change to their lineup, with Wendell replacing injured Nigerian defender Zaidu Sanusi.

Sanusi was ruled out for the rest of the season following injury sustained over the weekend.

In the UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday, Arsenal put effort to control the game, leaving the home side with to defend resolutely to restrict theGunners from creating goalscoring opportunities.

Porto’s match-winner arrived when Galeno fired a stunning long-range strike to beat Raya in the dying moments of the game.

The 1-0 first-leg result means Arsenal face the daunting task of overturning the deficit at the Emirates in March.
