Federation Cup: Angry Enyimba FC assistant coach blasts Abia FA over poor pitch

Enyimba FC assistant coach, Olanrewaju Yemi, has slammed the Abia State Football Association over the poor state of the pitch used for the Federation Cup Round of 16.

The Abia FA, led by its Chairman, Rev Onyeaghala Obioma, subjected the People’s Elephant of Aba to a terrible pitch for the Round of 16 State FA Cup tie with Ngwa United at Amaogudu, Abiriba.

Obichere Wisdom’s first-half strike sealed the win to send Enyimba to the next round despite playing on a terrible pitch approved by the Obioma-led Abia FA.

Yemi described the act as barbaric saying that two players of his side suffered injuries as a result of the terrible pitch.

“In a saner clime, you can’t take a club like Enyimba to come and play in this kind of pitch. Two of my players are seriously injured. It is outrageous but we must honour it for the love of the game. This cannot happen anywhere.

“You cannot take Rivers United or Kwara United to a pitch like this or any other club. It is barbaric. For Enyimba, it is all about winning. That is the only that we will represent. I am impressed with their attitude.”
