Federation Cup winners El-Kanemi Warriors awarded N35.2 Million by Borno State Government
El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club has been honored with a cash reward of N35.2 million by the Borno State Government in recognition of their impressive victory in the 2024 President Federation Cup.
The team made history by defeating Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final, ending a 32-year wait for the trophy to return to Borno.
The cash award was presented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, on behalf of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, during a ceremony held at the SSG’s office. Each player received a stipend of N1 million as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
In addition to the state government’s support, El-Kanemi Warriors also received a N50 million cash prize for their Federation Cup triumph.
Commissioner of Sports, Hon. Sainna Buba, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Zulum for the financial support and recommended Babagana Kalli for the position of Special Adviser on Sports, highlighting Kalli’s extensive experience in the field.
Technical Adviser of the club, Aliyu Zubairu, praised the state government for its commitment to enhancing sports in Borno and urged the prompt release of funds to ensure the team’s smooth travel for matches across the country.
