Federer back at Rogers Cup after 6 years absence

Roger Federer will play at the Rogers Cup in Montreal for the first time since 2011 as he returns to the court after his Wimbledon success.

The Swiss maestro claimed his 19th grand slam title with his win over Marin Cilic in the final at the All England Club in July.

In preparation for the US Open, Federer will head to Montreal eyeing his third crown at the ATP 1000 event.

Federer, who holds a 31-2 win-loss record this year, turns 36 on Tuesday – a day after the tournament begins.

“I’m happy to be coming back to Montreal as I have not had a chance to play there for many years,” he said.

“This 2017 season has been very exciting and I am really looking forward to being back out on the court on the ATP Tour.”
