Ferdinand: Alex Iwobi is Everton’s most creative player
Former Manchester United defender turned Pundit Rio Ferdinand has identified Alex Iwobi as Everton’s most creative player a stat he believes has contributed to their struggles this season.
The Ex-England International fears fellow Englishman Frank Lampard would soon be sacked by Everton if he fails to get his team to create more scoring chances and score goals.
To compound their woes, Everton were on Tuesday night kicked out of the Caraboa cup following a 4-1 loss to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
WHAT FERDINAND SAIDÂ
” I think Frank’s biggest hindrance that he’s got at the moment is a lack of creativity and goals.
” McNeil’s is not scoring, Gordon’s gone off the boil a bit, Iwobi’s their most creative player and he’s playing in Midfield. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is carrying too many injuries.
” They got Maupay who never really scored goals for Brighton in a team that created a lot of chances; he’s now gone to a team that doesn’t create a lot of chances.
” So it’s difficult; time will tell with Frank, I hope he doesn’t get sacked. ” Ferdinand said on his FIVE podcast.
ALEX IWOBI’S STATS THIS SEASONÂ
Alex Iwobi has started all 14 English Premier League matches for Everton this season.
The Nigerian Midfielder has scored only one goal this season while assisting five others to be one of few positives from a yet dissapointing season for Frank Lampard and his charges.
EPL MANAGERIAL SACK RACE: WHO’S NEXTÂ
Five English Premier League managers have lost their job already this season.
Bruno Lage (Wolves), Scott Parker (Bournemouth), Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea) Steven Gerrard (Aston Villa) and Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl who got the boot last weekend have all been sacrificed for their clubs poor start to the season.
With a poor 33.3% win record since taking over from Rafa Benitez at Everton, Frank Lampard will need to turn the tide at the Merseyside club as soon as possible lest the hammer falls.
