Fidelis Ilechukwu, Sani Suleiman clinch NPFL awards for March
Enugu Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and Akwa United forward, Sani Suleiman have been honoured with NPFL awards for March 2024.
Fidelis Ilechukwu, the head coach of Rangers International, has been named the winner of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Manager of the Month for March.
Under Ilechukwu’s leadership, Rangers embarked on an impressive unbeaten run, securing three wins in five matches throughout the month. Notably, they clinched two crucial away victories against Niger Tornadoes and Heartland, while netting a total of seven goals during this period. This remarkable performance propelled Rangers to the summit of the NPFL table.
Ilechukwu’s achievement marks a significant milestone as he becomes the first Rangers tactician to claim the Manager of the Month award this season. He had previously been nominated for the accolade in October 2023 and February 2024.
In a separate recognition, Akwa United’s Suleiman emerged as the Player of the Month for March, owing to his exceptional contributions to the team’s success during the period. Suleiman’s standout performances included scoring five goals, including crucial strikes in Akwa United’s away triumph against Plateau United and a resounding home victory over defending champions Enyimba.
Suleiman’s stellar displays earned him the Player of the Month honor ahead of notable contenders such as Rangers’ duo Godwin Obaje and Ejike Ugochukwu, Adams Olamilekan of Remo Stars, Christian Pyagbara of Shooting Stars, and Nenrot Silas of Plateau United.
