FIFA/UEFA Indefinite suspension for Russian National team and Clubs
Fifa have announced the suspension of Russia’s national teams from international football and all Russian club sides from FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.
Russia were due to play Poland on 24th March in Europe’s World Cup qualifying play-off. The ban will likely eliminate them from the process and end their hopes of reaching Qatar 2022, scheduled for November and December this year. Russia will also be disqualified from this summer’s Women’s Euro 2022, hosted by England in July.
At club level, Spartak Moscow will be eliminated from the Europa League, where they were due to face RB Leipzig in the round of 16.
FIFA decided to act following Pressure from Poland , England, Scotland and Wales who all announced they will not partake in any football competion involving Russia due to the Countries invasion of Ukraine.
