Finidi George advises Kelechi Iheanacho to leave Sevilla after disrespectful treatment
Rivers United coach Finidi George has urged Kelechi Iheanacho to leave Spanish club Sevilla FC after being treated unfairly since his move from Leicester City in the summer.
Finidi expressed his disappointment with the way Iheanacho has been treated, especially compared to his fellow summer signing, Chidera Ejuke, who has quickly become a fan favourite. While Ejuke has adapted well, Iheanacho has struggled to get a consistent place in the starting lineup.
The former Manchester City striker has scored only three goals in 11 appearances, all of which came in two Copa del Rey matches. In La Liga, he has played just 401 minutes in nine games, with only five starts. He was also left out of the squad for Sevilla’s recent matches against Girona and Valencia, and remained on the bench in the 4-2 loss to Real Madrid.
Despite being at the club for less than six months, reports suggest that Iheanacho has been told to find a new club before the January transfer window closes.
Finidi, upset by this treatment, advised Iheanacho to consider leaving Sevilla. “They have disrespected him in many ways,” he said. “He hasn’t been given enough time to settle. He is 28 and still has a lot to offer, but he needs to be somewhere where he is truly appreciated.”
The former Super Eagles winger suggested that Iheanacho could explore a return to the Premier League or consider other new opportunities. Reports indicate that English clubs like West Ham and Watford are interested in signing him, offering hope for his potential return to England.
