Finidi George reveals Victor Osimhen never apologised after Instagram outburst
In a recent revelation, former Super Eagles manager Finidi George has disclosed that star striker Victor Osimhen has yet to apologise for his controversial Instagram rant directed at the coach. The incident occurred during Finidi’s tenure when the Super Eagles struggled in their bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following a disappointing draw against South Africa and a loss to Benin Republic, Osimhen took to Instagram for a 10-minute tirade. In the emotional outburst, he accused Finidi of unfairly blaming him for the team’s poor form and claimed the former coach had made him a “scapegoat.”
Finidi, now coaching Rivers United, provided an update on the situation in an interview. “I sent him a message saying it wasn’t the best way to handle things. Just because someone said something doesn’t mean you go public without clarifying,” Finidi said in an interview with Nigerian Info. “Since then, I haven’t heard from him. I’ve moved on, and every day I wish him well. Only God will judge.”
When asked if Osimhen should face consequences for his actions, Finidi responded, “I don’t know; he’s there already. Let him be.” Finid George said.
