FIVB Men’s World Champs 2025 – All African Teams Eliminated, Quarterfinal Fixtures Set

FIVB Men’s World Champs 2025 – Round of 16 Results, Quarterfinal Fixtures

The 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship has reached the knockout stage, and Africa’s participation is officially over. After the preliminary pools and the Round of 16, all four African nations — Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, and Libya — have been eliminated, leaving Europe, Asia, and the Americas to contest the latter stages.

African Teams’ Journey Ends

  • Tunisia advanced from Pool A after two wins but were swept aside 3–0 by the Czech Republic in the Round of 16.

  • Egypt finished bottom of Pool A with just one win, failing to progress.

  • Algeria lost all three matches in Pool F and exited early.

  • Libya also went winless in Pool G, bowing out without a set victory.

With Tunisia’s defeat, the continent’s last hope was extinguished, marking another year without African representation in the World Championship quarterfinals.

Round of 16 Results

  • Czech Republic 3–0 Tunisia

  • Iran 3–2 Serbia

  • USA 3–1 Slovenia

  • Bulgaria 3–0 Portugal

  • Poland 3–1 Canada

  • Turkey 3–1 Netherlands

  • Italy 3–0 Argentina

  • Belgium 3–0 Finland

Quarterfinal Fixtures (September 24)

  • Czech Republic vs Iran

  • USA vs Bulgaria

  • Poland vs Turkey (08:00 local time)

  • Italy vs Belgium (03:30 local time)

Winners will advance to the semi-finals on September 26, before the grand final on September 27.

Who Has Impressed So Far

  • Poland look every inch the favorites, winning all their matches in commanding style.

  • Italy were ruthless in their sweep of Argentina, carrying momentum from a perfect group stage.

  • USA have combined power and discipline, dropping just one set in the Round of 16.

  • Turkey and Belgium are shaping up as dark horses, both winning convincingly against higher-ranked opponents.

African Challenge Moving Forward

Once again, Africa departs the tournament before the latter stages, raising questions about the development gap between the continent’s best and the traditional volleyball powerhouses. Tunisia’s advance to the knockouts was a positive sign, but the heavy defeat to the Czechs shows the level still required to compete at the very top.
