Flamingos Qualify for 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup After Draw in Algeria
Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have booked their place at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after a goalless draw against Algeria in Blida.
The result saw the Flamingos win the final qualifying round 4-0 on aggregate, following their comfortable first-leg victory.
Despite dominating the second leg, Bankole Olowookere’s girls failed to convert several chances in front of goal. Cold weather conditions in Blida also made it tough for the team.
Algeria nearly snatched a late winner in the 89th minute, but their effort hit the woodwork.
The Flamingos reached the quarter-finals in the last edition of the tournament, where they were knocked out by the United States.
This year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will begin on 17 October in Morocco.
