Flawless Liverpool knock out Leipzig in Budapest
English champions, Liverpool booked their passage to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after a 2-0 win and 4-0 aggregate win over German side, RB Leipzig at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
Liverpool, who are on a poor run of form domestically were made to work hard for their result in the game before two goals in five second half minutes secured their last 8 ticket. Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah found the net to open the scoring after 70 minutes, before Senegalese forward Sadio Mane added a second four minutes later to secure a flawless 4-0 aggregate victory for the 2019 Champions League winners.
Liverpool have now qualified for the quarterfinals of this season’s Champions League as the title remains one of their only realistic chances of winning silverware this season. They join Borussia Dortmund, FC Porto and Paris St Germain as those already confirmed for the draws for the quarterfinals.
