Fluminense Beat Al Hilal 2–1 to Reach Club World Cup Semi-Final

Brazilian side Fluminense have become the first team to reach the Semi-finals of the Club World Cup after a 2–1 win over Al Hilal in Orlando.

Martinelli scored a brilliant solo goal late in the first half to give Fluminense the lead. Just after the break, Marcos Leonardo equalised for Al Hilal, but substitute Hercules came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 70th minute  his second goal as a substitute in this tournament.

Fluminense will now face the winner of Palmeiras vs Chelsea in the semi-final. With both Brazilian clubs still in the competition, it is a proud moment for Brazilian football.

The match ended in dramatic fashion as Al Hilal pushed hard for another equaliser. They had several chances from corners and came close to scoring, but Fluminense’s defence stayed strong until the final whistle. There was even a late penalty shout from Kalidou Koulibaly, but the referee waved it away after what looked like a clear dive.

Fluminense’s players and staff ran onto the pitch at full time, celebrating what has been a remarkable journey. Seen as underdogs from the start, they have now knocked out two strong teams through determination, teamwork, and quality in front of goal.

They will be watching closely as Palmeiras take on Chelsea to find out who they will play next. Based on their recent performances, Fluminense will feel confident no matter who they face.

It’s been a magical run so far and it’s not over yet.
