Flying Eagles goalkeeper Kingsley Aniagboso surprised over Super Eagles call-up
Flying Eagles goalkeeper Kingsley Aniagboso has revealed that he was surprised to get a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON qualifiers vs Guinea-Bissau.
Aniagboso has made remarkable surge in the last one month. First the 18-year old Giant Brillars goalkeeper displaced Nathaniel Nwosu to become first choice goalkeeper for Nigeria`s U-20 Eagles at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
After the opening day 1-0 loss to eventual champions Senegal, Flying Eagles Head Coach Ladan Bosso replaced Nwosu in goal with Aniagboso and he justified his inclusion with spectacular performances to rake in 4-clean sheets as Nigeria claimed bronze in Egypt.
Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro handed the Brillars goalie invitation to the Nigeria Super Eagles squad among three home-based players for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers vs Guinea-Bissau on Friday a call-up Aniagboso revealed he was surprised to get.
“I feel good, I feel happy. I want to learn and if anything happens I have to play and defend the post for Nigeria,” Aniagboso told All Nigeria Soccer.
“I’m here to learn, I am here to improve myself but if the chance is given to me I have to do my best to help the team.”
“I am surprised but I’m always positive. It’s my dream.
“When I was in Egypt I know the next step is here so I put every effort to make it to this place but I wasn’t expecting it this time, so I’m surprised, ” he said.
Flying Eagles skipper Daniel Bameyi and Rivers United FC in-form goalkeeper Victor Sochima are the other two home-based players in camp ahead of Fridays game.
Aniagboso and Sochima will challenge Omonia Nicosia shot-stopper for a spot in goal when the Eagles file out vs Guinea-Bissau.
