Forest set conditions to allow Taiwo Awoniyi leave in January
English Premier League side Nottingham Forest have set clear conditions for Taiwo Awoniyi’s possible move to West Ham this January.
Awoniyi, 27, has been linked with a transfer since the window opened, after losing his place in the starting lineup.
The striker has fallen down the pecking order at Forest, with Chris Wood now the first-choice forward.
Despite not being in good form, the Nigerian international has been connected with a move to West Ham.
West Ham are interested in signing Awoniyi, especially after injuries to Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio have left gaps in their attack.
However, Forest have made it clear they will only consider a permanent transfer or a loan deal with an option to buy for about £30 million.
West Ham are hesitant to pay such a high amount for a player with Awoniyi’s injury record and limited goalscoring form.
This season, he has started just two of his 16 Premier League appearances and scored only once. Since Nuno Espirito Santo took over as manager in December 2023, Awoniyi has mainly been used as a backup striker.
