Former England player urges Victor Osimhen to choose Arsenal over Chelsea

Former Chelsea and England forward, Chris Sutton, has advised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to opt for a move to Arsenal instead of Chelsea.

Osimhen, who plays for Napoli in Serie A, has been in impressive form, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in eleven league starts this season.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Osimhen, and Sutton believes the Nigerian forward would be a significant upgrade for either team. However, Sutton suggests that Osimhen should consider Arsenal due to their desperate need for a top-quality striker.

“He is better than what Chelsea and Arsenal have got. Do we think that Arsenal are going to push more than Chelsea in the next couple of seasons? Probably, but Chelsea are a bit of a slow burner. They are getting a little bit better Chelsea. It’s difficult to see how this one will pan out. But Arsenal are getting desperate for a number nine, the 50-year-old said on BBC’s Monday Night Club in quotes published by The Chelsea Chronicle.

“Certainly with Nicolas Jackson, Osimhen is a massive upgrade. Nkunku can’t get himself fit and you feel for Pochettino with that one. They are interesting Chelsea because it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that all of a sudden next season they hit the ground running and push. After all, they do have some good players. If he’s really ambitious at this moment in time, you wouldn’t touch Chelsea ahead of Arsenal,” the former Norwich City forward added.

While recognizing the potential for Chelsea to become stronger, Sutton feels that Arsenal’s urgent requirement for a quality number nine makes them an attractive destination for Osimhen.

Menwhile, Victor Osimhen is focused on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 tournament with Nigeria, where they are set to face Angola in the quarter-finals.
