Former NBA Champion Aron Baynes retires from Basketball

Aron Baynes last played in the NBA during the 2020-21 season with the Toronto Raptors. That season, he averaged 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, shooting 44.1% from the field and 26.2% from three-point range in 53 games (starting 31).

On Wednesday, his agent, Daniel Moldovan, announced that Baynes has retired from basketball (via HoopsHype).

Moldovan said:
“The boy from Mareeba! It’s been an honour to represent you throughout your career. You are a true example of professionalism, dedication, and playing for the team, not yourself. Love you, Azza! Wishing you all the best in retirement “

Baynes played nine NBA seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, and Toronto Raptors.

Over his career, he averaged 6.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, shooting 48.9% from the field and 30.8% from three-point range across 522 regular season games. He also played in 54 playoff games (starting 18).

Baynes won an NBA Championship with the Spurs in 2014.

Aron Baynes had his best season in 2019 with the Phoenix Suns, where he averaged 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, shooting 48.0% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range in 42 games (starting 28).
