Four key records held by the legendary Rabiu Ali
SportsRation presents four key records held by the legendary Kano Pillars captain Rabiu Ali after he left the club back to the Premier League this week.
LONGEST SERVING PLAYER IN THE NIGERIA PREMIER LEAGUE
Rabiu Ali has spent over a decades in the Nigeria Premier League, more than any other player in history. Aged 42, the midfielder will be back in the top-flight for yet another season after spending the 2022/2023 season in the Nigeria National League following his teams relegation.
OLDEST ACTIVE PLAYER IN ALL NIGERIAN LEAGUES
At 42, Rabiu Ali is still playing football regularly and is the oldest active player in all Nigerian Leagues.
GOALS IN CONSECUTIVE SEASONS
Rabiu Ali has scored in every football season he has played, that he has played more seasons than any other player in Nigeria automatically crowns him as player with most goals in consecutive seasons.
In the 2021/2022 season, Ali famously bagged his 100th goal in Pillars colour.
MOST CONSECUTIVE SEASONS IN THE NPFL
Rabiu Ali had become the player with most consecutive seasons in the Nigeria Premier Football League before Kano Pillars FC suffered relegation in the year 2022.
The legend will return to what ‘his’ league next season, except he decides to wave goodbye to the game.
That is a very unlikely decision at this time, especially with the success at the just concluded Nigeria National League – NNL Super 8 playoff, where Kano Pillars FC finished as one of four promoted teams.
His last game at the NNL Super 8 playoff vs Katsina United FC ended with a Red card and so we hope he continues till he gets a proper sendforth as one of the greatest to grace the Nigeria Premier League.
