France sweep Morocco out of 2023 Women’s World Cup
France have swept Morocco out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 4-0 last-16 result on Tuesday August 8.
Kadidiatou Diani scored the opening goal for France in the 15th minute to set foundation for a comfortable outing for the Europeans vs their less experienced opposition who were playing their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup knockout round game.
Kenza Dali added the second goal 5 minutes before Eugénie Le Sommer scored France’s third in the 23rd minute.
At halftime, France went into the locker room excited with a cool 3-0 lead while the disappointed Morocco ladies were down in spirit as World Cup elimination stared In their face except they could pull up a second half miracle.
There was no miracle for debutants Morocco as France added a fourth through Eugenie Le Sommer to seal a 4-0 win and reach the quarter-final of the Women’s World Cup.
With the elimination of Morocco, Africa’s participation at the 2023 Women’s World Cup ends following the exit of Nigeria’s Super Falcons and South Africa’s Bayana Bayana.
