Frank Onyeka hailed by former Liverpool director
Liverpool’s former director of research, Dr Ian Graham, recently praised Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka, who is currently on loan at Augsburg from Brentford. Graham highlighted the quality of Brentford’s players, mentioning Onyeka as one of the standout performers.
The Nigerian midfielder has been impressing in the German Bundesliga with his strong performances. Graham’s praise for Onyeka comes as no surprise, considering his skills on the pitch. However, it is interesting to note that Graham’s admiration for Onyeka goes back to the midfielder’s time at FC Midtjylland in Denmark.
Graham explained that Onyeka was one of the best young midfielders in Denmark while playing for Midtjylland before moving to Brentford. His comments highlight Onyeka’s talent and potential, and it will be exciting to see how he performs by the end of his loan spell at Augsburg.
“Frank Onyeka was the best young midfielder in Denmark. He played for FC Midtjylland, another club owned by (Matthew) Benham, and soon joined Brentford,” Graham said in his book How to Win the Premier League: The Inside Story of Football’s Data Revolution, as reported by The Liverpool Echo.
Since joining Augsburg on loan, Onyeka has made a strong impact. He has been playing well and will look to help his team move up the table, as they are currently in 12th position.
Onyeka impressed in his Bundesliga debut against FC St Pauli in September last year, clocking a speed of 32.57 km/h, making him the third-fastest player in the league at the time. Although he has not yet scored for Augsburg, he has provided two assists this season.
