Fulham Coach Delighted with Samuel Chukwueze’s Impact at Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva says he is very happy with Samuel Chukwueze’s recent form and wishes the Super Eagles winger had joined the club earlier in the summer.

Chukwueze arrived at Craven Cottage from AC Milan on transfer deadline day and needed time to settle in. For weeks, he only came on as a substitute. But things changed two weeks ago when he came off the bench, set up the winning goal against Sunderland and earned the Man of the Match award.

The performance convinced Silva to hand him his first Premier League start against Tottenham last Saturday. Chukwueze repaid the trust by producing another brilliant display and providing an assist in Fulham’s 2–1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking after the match, and again ahead of Fulham’s game against Manchester City, Silva praised the Nigerian winger’s progress.

“Very happy with him. It was only a matter of time. We need him at his best, both in performance and physically,” Silva said. “The second half was harder for everyone, but he still had a very good impact. I’m very pleased for him.”

Silva admitted that Chukwueze’s slow start was because he did not take part in pre-season with the rest of the squad. The coach said he regrets that the winger joined the team so late, as it delayed his adaptation.

“The Nigerian boys create a great atmosphere for us. I would have preferred to have had Chukwueze earlier, in pre-season,” Silva said.

With Fulham preparing for a tougher test against Manchester City, Chukwueze is expected to feature again. The 26-year-old will aim to continue his strong run of form and help Fulham push up the Premier League table before leaving for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
