Future Eagles return to Nigeria after U-15 tour of Morocco
The Nigerian U-15 boys, nicknamed the Future Eagles, have returned to Nigeria after completing a two-match tour in Morocco alongside the country’s U-15 team.
Led by Coach Patrick Bassey and his assistants Hussein Lawal and Augustine Iyamu, the young stars embarked on their first international football experience, guided by former Nigeria winger and captain Dr. Felix Owolabi, MON.
Arriving at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos at 4:35 am, the Future Eagles then boarded a local flight to Abuja at 7 am this morning, marking the end of their fruitful journey.
In their first encounter against the Moroccan counterparts, the Future Eagles displayed resilience by clawing back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw.
However, controversy ensued in the 80th minute when a penalty was awarded to the Young Atlas Lions, resulting in a 3-2 victory for Morocco after the conversion by Ziad Baha.
Undeterred by the setback, the Nigerian U-15 national team showcased their attacking prowess in the second game, recording an impressive 5-3 win over the hosts at the Mohammed VI Football Complex on Monday night.
The tour, organized by the Nigeria Football Federation under the leadership of Ibrahim Gusau, underscores the administration’s commitment to grassroots development and nurturing young talents. It provides aspiring footballers with invaluable opportunities to hone their skills and pursue their dreams on the international stage.
