Gabriel Magalhães turns down big money move to Man Utd for Arteta’s Arsenal
Gabriel Magalhães is turned down a huge money move to Manchester United in favour of a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The Lille centre back was for most part of this transfer linked with a move to Napoli but instead he is heading to London with Arsenal.
While it was reported during the week that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Lille there were rumours of a late bid from Manchester United for the Brazilian.
For a moment it looked like the pendulum was shifting on Manchester United side with the Reds willing to pay Gabriel Magalhães more money than he would earn at Arsenal.
Manchester United’s late interest delayed the move for a few days but according to respected journao, Fabrizio Romano it is all done now.
“Arsenal have agreed a €30m fee with Lille to sign defender Gabriel Magalhães,” said Fabrizio Romano
“He will fly to London on Monday to complete his medical checks and sign a 5-year contract. Official statement on next week. The deal is finally done.”
A source from Brazil also revealed that he signed for Arsenal because of Mikel Arteta.
“Gabriel Magalhães will sign tomorrow for Arsenal, rejecting Manchester United’s latest – and much more lucrative – push.
“The player preferred the project personally presented by Mikel Arteta. Player’s personality. It will explode.”
