Gardi: Osimhen Promised Not to Join Any Club Until Season Ends
Victor Osimhen’s agent, George Gardi, has made it clear that the Nigerian striker will not make any decision about his future until the current season is over.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Gardi strongly denied recent reports linking Osimhen with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, saying there have been no talks with the club – not in January, and not now.
“These claims are completely baseless,” Gardi said. “Victor made me a promise when he joined Galatasaray. He wouldn’t sign with any club before the season ends. And indeed, despite receiving lucrative offers, he kept his word.”
Gardi stressed that Osimhen is not the kind of player who needs help finding clubs. “The biggest clubs in the world want him. He doesn’t need anyone to carve his own path,” he added.
The 25-year-old striker has enjoyed a fantastic season at Galatasaray, scoring 29 goals and providing six assists in all competitions. His performances have attracted interest from top clubs in Europe, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Juventus.
While Juventus would like to bring him back to Italy, Napoli – who still own Osimhen – are not keen on selling to a domestic rival. However, reports in Italy suggest that Napoli may now be open to lowering their asking price, previously set at €75 million, to help secure a move to the Premier League instead.
Gardi also explained how the loan move to Galatasaray happened. “Napoli asked me for €6–7 million for a loan deal. But I completed the transfer without any loan fee,” he revealed.
According to Gardi, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk immediately supported the idea of signing Osimhen, even though not everyone at the club was convinced at first. “Some thought Icardi and Batshuayi were enough, but where would Galatasaray be today without Osimhen?” he asked.
Gardi believes Osimhen has had a huge impact in Turkey. “He’s possibly the most iconic transfer in Turkish football history. He’s at the peak of his career, valued at €100 million, and this move has changed how people see Turkish football around the world.”
Osimhen, who helped Napoli win Serie A in 2023, is now close to adding the Turkish league and cup titles to his achievements before making a decision on his next move this summer.
