Gauff crashes out of French Open as Sakkari stuns Swiatek

All four women's French Open semifinalists are first timers

America’s Coco Gauff fell at the quarterfinal stage after she lost to Barbora Krejcikova 7-6 6-3 in straight sets, ending her dreams of reaching her first-ever Grand Slam semifinals.

Krejcikova will do battle with Greece’s Maria Sakkari in the semifinals after the Greek defeated Poland’s Iga Swiatek 6-4 6-4 in straight sets to book her place in the last four of the tournament for the first time in her career.

In the other semifinal, Russia’s Anastasia Pavluychenkova will face Tamara Zidansek with both players reaching their first ever Grand Slam semifinals. It is sure that the women’s event at the French Open will have a new champion this year.
