Gavi Talks Up Lamine Yamal Ballon d’or Chances

Spain and Barcelona midfielder, Gavi, believes his teammate Lamine Yamal will win many Ballon d’Or trophies in the future — even if he doesn’t win this year’s award.

The winner of the 2025 Ballon d’Or will be announced in September. Top contenders include Yamal, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, Mohamed Salah, Vitinha, Pedri, and Kylian Mbappe.

Yamal, who is just 18 years old, had an outstanding season with Barcelona. He played a key role as Hansi Flick’s side won both the LaLiga title and the Copa del Rey.

Speaking to Diario AS, Gavi said:

“I hope he wins. But if not, he’s still only 18. Being one of the favourites at his age is very special.”

He added:

“He’s an incredible player and keeps improving every day. He’s brilliant in training. If he keeps the same attitude and focus, I’m sure he will win many Ballon d’Ors in the future.”
