Genot Rohr set for new job as Benin Republic Head Coach
Former Super Eagles Head Coach Genot Rohr is reportedly in line for a new job as Head Coach of the Benin Republic National team.
According to multiple sources, the Benin Republic Football Federation on Tuesday Febuary 14 decided on the choice of Genot Rohr as new coach of it’s male National team.
Rohr, SportsRation gathered is expected take over from former Benin international Moussa Latoundji, who has been in temporary charge of the team since last year.
No official communication to this effect has been made by the FBF, but inside sources reveal the 69-year old is expected to resume work on February 21.
If the agreement sails through, Rohr’s first game in charge will be the 2023 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in March.
Benin are bottom of Group L after losing their opening two games against Senegal and Mozambique.
Placed 91st in the FIFA rankings, Benin Republic will hope Genot Rohr the former Nigeria Super Eagles Head Coach can lead a new page in their football history.
69-year old Rohr was in December 2021 sacked from his role as Head of the Nigeria National team despite qualifying the country for the 2021 AFCON and booking a World Cup qualification playoff ticket.
Nigeria has struggled to find stability since his unceremonious exit, the Eagles exiting the AFCON in the Round of 16 before failing to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Genot Rohr has been without a job since and will hopefully get back on the bench with Benin Republic later this month.
