Gernot Rohr set to give Cyriel Dessers his Super Eagles chance
Dessers has accepted to represent Nigeria after a series of talks with the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick and Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
Born in Leuven to a Belgian father and Nigerian mother, Dessers has scored 14 and set up five goals in the Dutch league this season as he inches closer to fulfilling his dream of representing the Super Eagles.
According to sources close to the team, Desser is one of the new players that will be invited for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sierra Leone in March 2020.
The Super Eagles have had a perfect start to the AFCON qualifiers so far, having picked six points in their opening two games.
Dessers, 24, who started his career with his hometown club OH Leuven was named Dutch League Player of the Month for November.
Meanwhile, Belgium are trying to convince him to play for them instead of Nigeria.
