Gernot Rohr to earn half of his Nigeria salary in Benin Republic

Gernot Rohr has revealed that he will earn half of the salary he was paid as Super Eagles manager at Benin Republic.

The German was Super Eagles’ longest manager before he was sacked a few days before the start of the 2021 AFCON for losing the dressing room.

Nigeria failed to make it past the round of 16 at the 2021 AFCON, and also failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in his absence.

Rohr has now moved on as he was announced the coach of Cheetah of Benin Republic, the 69-year-old manager sign three-year contract with Benin Republic.

During his postmatch, he revealed he didn’t come for money as he revealed that his salary is half of what he earned from his last job.

During his first press conference on Friday, Rohr confirmed the term of his contract and salary.

“The contract is for 3 years, I will earn half of what I earned in Nigeria because I don’t come for money.

“You have to be reasonable, and humble and I want to set an example so that we are more comfortable asking the same things of others”, he said.

Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic will play a doubleheader against Rwanda on matchdays 3, and 4 of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier in March.
