Ghana playing waiting game to catch Nigeria off-guard with surprise call ups?
The Ghana Football Association will reportedly surprise the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they release their provisional squad for the 2022 World Cup last qualifiers.
Nigeria Football Federation has already released their 32-man provisional list for the must-win games while their Ghanaian counterparts are said to be playing waiting games.
According to reports from Ghana, the list was supposed to be released on Thursday but then delay over various issues.
“We have to thank God that Otto Addo and his men have successfully spoken to some players who had previously turned down our invitations,” said Black Stars Management C’ttee member Alhaji Grunsah on Angel FM
“We just have to pray and support them.”
Alhaji Grunsah statement was supported by popular Ghanian sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Jr. who said they are celebrating delaying the announcement of the squad to surprise Nigeria.
“The Ghana Football Association deliberately will not announce the Black Stars squad in order to surprise the Super Eagles of Nigeria,” Yaw Ampofo Jr.
This same sentiment was shared by another popular Ghanaian Sports Journalist Saddick Adams.
“Ghana FA motto for World Cup Qualifier vs Nigeria; ‘What the enemy doesn’t see, they can’t destroy’, said Saddick Adams.
The Ghana Football Association can release the list whenever they like, for sure, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odio, Tariq Lamptey would not be included.
Both players would need FIFA clearances which will take weeks before it is approved.
Also, Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu who is currently injured would not be on the list.
The first leg will be played in Cape Coast Sports Stadium from 7.30 pm on Friday 25th March, with the reverse leg set for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, 29th March from 6 pm.
