Club Brugge defender Dennis Odoi who would be playing in his first game for Ghana at 33 is eyeing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ghana Football Association has handed a surprise call up to Club Brugge defender Dennis Odoi who is dubbed the Lionel Messi stopper.
Dennis Odoi earned the name after impressing over two legs when his Belgian club played against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2021/22 Champions League.
The 33-year-old defender had represented Belgium at various age-grade tournaments but never made it into the national team.
But he has now been handed a call-up by Ghana for the two crucial games against Nigeria.
Although the official provisional list has not been confirmed by the Ghana Football Association, Dennis Odoi, and a few other players
“I was a little surprised,” said Odoi about the call-up.
“These are essential matches.
“I could even participate in the next World Cup.”
Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup Playoffs on 25th March 2022 with the return leg in Nigeria to follow four days later.
The aggregate winner of both legs will qualify for the 2022 World Cup In Qatar later in the year.
