Ghana’s Jerry Afriyie claims WAFU U-20 MVP and top scorer awards despite Black Satellites’ loss to Nigeria
Despite the Black Satellites’ 2-1 loss to Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in the 2024 WAFU B U-20 Championship final, Ghana’s Jerry Afriyie emerged with honours, clinching both the Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer awards.
Kparobo Arierhi’s two goals sealed the win for the Flying Eagles, securing the championship title for Nigeria. However, the tournament organisers recognised Afriyie’s outstanding performance, awarding him the MVP title along with the Top Scorer accolade after he netted five goals throughout the competition.
Afriyie’s consistent displays have set high expectations for the young striker as he aims to replicate his success when the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in 2025.
