Giannis Antetokounmpo reacts to Bucks loss to Kings

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo didn’t mince words when analyzing his team’s disappointing 129-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.

In a post-game interview, Giannis pointed out the key issue: the Bucks’ failure to move the ball effectively against the Kings’ double-teaming defense.

According to Giannis, the Bucks struggled to react to the Kings’ defensive strategy, which often involved double-teaming either him or Damian Lillard. Giannis emphasised the need for better ball movement and asserted that the team must do a better job of attacking double teams.

“Gotta move the ball, but…I get it. I get why it’s happening,” Giannis explained. “Especially, for example, when you get double-teamed every single time in the post, you want to play. You want to impact the game. You cannot just be passive and just passing the ball. You gotta impact the game in a way. Sometimes you gotta beat the double team.”

The dismal shooting performance by the Bucks only exacerbated the problem, with Milwaukee managing only 23 assists compared to Sacramento’s 34.

Additionally, the Bucks struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, shooting just 30 out of 82 from the field, while the Kings shot an impressive 53%.

Looking ahead, Giannis expressed hope that the Bucks would make the necessary adjustments in their upcoming games, particularly as they prepare for the playoffs. He stressed the importance of being effective against different defensive strategies, emphasizing the need for better decision-making and execution on the court.

“We’re going to see to see that in the next game, we’re gonna play in the playoffs,” Giannis said. “We gotta be able to beat the teams from the post when they double-team us. We gotta be able to beat teams when they blitz us. Find the right outlets, guys get to the middle of the floor, try to spray it out to the corners, guys making shots. You have to find ways to be effective no matter what the defense does.”
