Golden Eaglet Not Ready Yet – Coach Manu Garba
Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba has disclosed his lads are not full prepared for the upcoming Africa Youth Championship Qualifiers after series of wins and good performance in their preparatory matches.
Despite their convincing display so far, Manu insist that there are certain areas which his players need to improve on especially in the area of finishing off chances as it will come handy when they take part in the zonal qualifiers.
The former FIFA U17 winning coach told owngoalnigeria despite his team recent 6-0 victory over Dream FC on Saturday.
” So far, so good but there are still some areas we need to work on, particularly in attack where we are guilty of wasting too many chances to score. Our defenders now understand how we want to play as well.”
” The qualifiers is going to be in tournament format, so that means we have to prepare for it like it is and not on the usual home and away basis. We have talented kids here but the work is still far from over”, he concluded.
The Eaglets have scored 50 goals from their 8 friendly matches played against selected youth football teams in Nigeria.
The 52-year-old won Gold medal at the FIFA U17 World Cup in UAE in November 2013 and also in the African U20 championship in March 2015.
