Golden Eaglets extend dominance with 7-0 victory over Udi Stars
In a display of sheer dominance, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria secured a resounding 7-0 friendly match win over Enugu’s Udi Stars.
The friendly match took place at the FIFA Goal Project within the Moshood Abiola Stadium premises on Saturday evening, serving as a preparatory fixture ahead of the WAFU B U-17 tournament.
Right from the outset, the Nigeria U-17 youngsters took charge of the game, storming to a commanding 5-0 lead in the first half alone.
Undeterred by their opponent’s the Golden Eaglets sustained their offensive onslaught in the second half, adding two more goals to seal their emphatic victory before the final whistle blew.
Despite facing a formidable seven-goal deficit, Udi Stars exhibited glimpses of brilliance throughout the encounter, yet fell short in capitalizing on opportunities within the attacking third.
The Golden Eaglets remarkable performance extends their unbeaten streak in friendly matches to six, having secured five victories and two draws thus far. Notably, the team has maintained a clean sheet in their last three friendly fixtures, netting a total of 15 goals in the process.
Looking ahead, Nigeria finds itself placed in Group B for the upcoming WAFU B U-17 tournament, alongside Togo, Burkina Faso, and Niger Republic. Meanwhile, Group A features host nation Ghana, alongside Cote D’Ivoire and Benin Republic.
