Golden Eaglets Target Victory Over Côte d’Ivoire After Niger Defeat

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are determined to bounce back from their defeat to Niger Republic when they face Côte d’Ivoire in a must-win match at the WAFU-B U-17 Championship on Saturday.
Head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere said his players are in good spirits and ready to fight for victory despite the setback against Niger.
Speaking at a press conference at Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on Friday, Uwejamomere urged his players to remain calm and believe in themselves.
The Golden Eaglets lost 1-2 to Niger Republic on Wednesday, making Saturday’s match against Côte d’Ivoire crucial to their hopes of progressing in the competition.
“We had a setback in the game against Niger Republic, but we are in great spirit to overcome it as we play Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday,” the coach said.
He added that his team had studied Côte d’Ivoire’s style of play, including their strengths and weaknesses, and knew what they needed to do to secure victory.
Uwejamomere admitted that the pressure was high because Nigeria needed to win but insisted that his players must remain focused and composed.
He also reminded the team that Nigeria had lost their opening matches at the 2018 and 2021 editions of the WAFU-B U-17 Championship but recovered to qualify.
According to the coach, Côte d’Ivoire are a strong team, but the Golden Eaglets must show the same fighting spirit if they want to win.
Côte d’Ivoire drew their match against Niger Republic and have one point ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Nigeria.
The Golden Eaglets will now be hoping to secure all three points and keep their qualification hopes alive.
