Golden State Warriors crowned 2022 NBA Champions after 4-2 win over Boston Celtics

The Golden State Warriors claimed a 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals at the TD Garden to pick up a fourth win of the series and be crowned as the 2022 NBA Champions after a 4-2 win.

Having lost Game 5 at the Chase Center, the Boston Celtics were out to force a Game 7 by picking up a win on home court against their vastly experienced opposition.

The Celtics started out very hot, picking up a 14-2 lead at the start of the first quarter before the Golden State Warriors took over the match and went on a 25-8 run to end the first quarter with a 27-22 lead.

The second quarter was more of the same from the Warriors, with their aggression and hunger levels way above that shown by the Celtics as seen from their rebounding at both ends of the court. They went on a 21-0 run in the first half, the longest such run in any NBA Finals match in the last 50 years. They ended the first half with a 54-39 lead, leaving their opponents with a mountain to climb and putting them in a strong position to be crowned as the 2022 NBA Champions.

The Celtics showed the semblance of a fight at the start of the second half and cut the lead to 10 points at the end of the third quarter. The Warriors controlled the fourth quarter and closed out the game with a 13-point lead.

Steph Curry led the scoring in the game with 34 points after coming off a 16-point performance in Game 5. Andrew Wiggins scored 18 points for the Warriors, and Jordan Poole added 15 points.

Jaylen Brown led the scoring for the Celtics with 34 points and Al Horford had 19 points. Jayson Tatum tallied a disappointing 13 points for his side, having scored 11 of them in the first half.

The Golden State Warriors have been crowned 2022 NBA Champions, winning their seventh championship. Curry was named as the Finals MVP following his efforts for his team.
