‘Goodbye Ruud Van Nisterlrooy’ – Manchester United allow Dutchman to go after Ruben Amorim arrival
Manchester United have officially parted ways with coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy and several other staff members who remained after Erik ten Hag’s departure.
The club legend had been part of Ten Hag’s coaching team and assumed the role of interim coach following the Dutchman’s exit. Van Nistelrooy managed to guide the team through an unbeaten streak of four matches, securing three victories and a draw, which garnered him significant support from fans and players alike who expressed a wish for him to stay on in some capacity.
Nevertheless, the club announced his departure in a recent statement. “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud Van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach,” the statement read. “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contributions and the approach he brought to his role during his time with us. He will always be warmly welcomed at Old Trafford.”
Despite expressing his desire to continue as part of the coaching team, Van Nistelrooy learned shortly after Rúben Amorim arrived in England for his new role that the club had made the decision to let him go.
According to Fabrizio Romano, who cited a report from The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Amorim insisted on bringing in his own backroom staff. It remains uncertain what the future holds for the 48-year-old coach, who previously managed PSV in a top European league before opting to join Manchester United as an assistant.
