Governor rewards Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi with N10 Million for AFCON silver

Super Eagles and OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi has received a N10 million reward from the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, for his role in helping Nigeria’s national team secure a silver medal at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The governor praised Moffi as a role model for the state’s youth and pledged ongoing support for the footballer’s career.

“I am particularly delighted that you represented the state well and have been a good ambassador for the youth in the state and beyond,” Governor Otu said. “Like you, we have many talents across the state, and we will continue to create opportunities for them to blossom. This is why we are making significant investments in youth and sports development.”

Otu highlighted his administration’s focus on youth development through sports programs, emphasizing that supporting young talents like Moffi is a priority.

Moffi has also contributed to local sports development, donating N1 million to Pelican Stars FC and providing soccer balls to both Pelican Stars and Calabar Rovers. The 25-year-old footballer joined Nice in 2023 after playing for Lorient in France and KV Kortrijk in Belgium.

Moffi made his debut for the Nigerian national team in 2021 and has been selected for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
