Governor Umo Eno Boosts Super Eagles’ Support with 30,000 Free Match Tickets
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has taken a major step to rally support for the Super Eagles by distributing 30,000 free match tickets ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.
The highly anticipated match is set to take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. The governor’s initiative aims to ensure a packed stadium as the Super Eagles push for maximum points in their qualification campaign.
Confirming this in a statement on Monday, the Commissioner for Sports, Paul Bassey, emphasized that the tickets are completely free and urged fans not to buy from anyone. He also stressed that only ticket holders would be granted access to the stadium, as no tickets would be distributed at the venue on match day.
“In line with his commitment to supporting the Super Eagles, Governor Umo Eno has purchased 30,000 match tickets for onward distribution to football fans and supporters,” the statement read. “These tickets will be available at designated centres across the state starting from 5 p.m. today, Monday, March 24.”
The statement listed the following distribution centres:
-
All radio stations in Akwa Ibom
-
De Venus Bar and Restaurant, Stadium Road, Uyo
-
Uyo Township Stadium
-
Uyo Plaza Management Committee Office, Ibom Plaza
-

Fans were also reminded to adhere to stadium rules and seating arrangements. The commissioner assured that all FIFA, CAF, and NFF regulations would be strictly followed, with security agencies on high alert to maintain order.
“This generous gesture from Governor Umo Eno is to encourage residents and football lovers to turn out in large numbers and cheer the Super Eagles to victory,” the statement added.
With the state government’s backing, the Super Eagles can expect a charged atmosphere in Uyo as they aim to take a big step towards World Cup qualification.
