Governor’s Cup Set to Begin on November 16, 2024 In Benue
The Benue State Governor’s Cup, the biggest football tournament in the region, will kick off on November 16, 2024.
The event will start with an opening ceremony, followed by exciting matches, SportsRation gathered.
All 23 Local Government Area Councils in the state will take part in a march past during the opening ceremony. This marks the start of the competition, which will be held at four different locations across the state.
The Benue State Football Association, led by Chairman Barrister Paul Edeh, and supported by the state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, have decided to bring back the Governor’s Cup.
The goal is to discover and promote soccer talent throughout Benue State. During a broadcast on Radio Benue in Makurdi, Paul Edeh announced that the prize money for the winners of the tournament is twenty million naira.
Each champion, both men’s and women’s teams, will receive ten million naira. To ensure fairness, players who have participated in any league categories are not allowed to compete in this tournament.
