Greenwood matches Rooney’s record as United keep pressure on Chelsea & Leicester City
Mason Greenwood has matched Wayne Rooney’s record as he scored yet another goal in Manchester United’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa at the Villa Park on Thursday.
The 18-year-old forward who has been on top form was again one of the star performers as Ole Gunner Solskjaer men secured the maximum points to keep pressure on Chelsea and Leicester City in the top four race.
United took the lead from a controversial penalty call and Bruno Fernandes converted from the spot kick before Mason Greenwood scored a fantastic goal to put his side 2-0 goals up.
The goal was Mason Greenwood’s 9th in the league this season. The last player to score that many in a single Premier League season before the age of 19 was Wayne Rooney.
Paul Pogba completed the 3-0 rout as Manchester United move on point behind fourth placed Leicester City and two behind third placed Chelsea.
Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo also played a part in the rout.
