Hakim Ziyech, the 31-year-old Moroccan striker, has announced that he plans to leave Galatasaray during the January transfer window. Ziyech has reportedly been unhappy with his time at the Turkish club and has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the situation.
Ziyech made his decision clear in an interview with the Turkish program Spor Gecesi, saying, “Galatasaray is over for me, I’ve told them I’m leaving in January. They don’t ask me anything anymore, I do what I want. I’ve never seen a coach as bad as Okan Buruk. If Galatasaray wins the title? I don’t care… Leave me alone, whatever happens.”
He also said, “I already regret coming. I should have left at the start of the season, but they didn’t want me to. I’m leaving in January.”
After his comments, it was reported that Benfica is now interested in signing Ziyech. The Moroccan’s time at Galatasaray has been disappointing, with only 11 appearances and no goals this season. This is a big contrast to his successful time at Ajax, which led to his move to Chelsea.
Ziyech’s contract with Galatasaray runs until June 2025, but his clear desire to leave makes a January transfer seem likely.
