Hakimi reveals how he would feel if he beats Lookman to 2024 CAF award

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has expressed his excitement about competing for the CAF African Player of the Year award.

Hakimi, nominated for the prestigious award for the second time, will face stiff competition from Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, who has been in excellent form this season. Lookman, a star for Atalanta, has helped his club achieve their first-ever European title.

Hakimi, who missed out on the award last year to Victor Osimhen, is hoping to win the CAF award for the first time. He shared that it’s a great honour to be nominated and that the recognition for his hard work is satisfying. Hakimi added that while winning the award would be wonderful, he is happy just to be nominated and plans to keep working hard.

Other notable nominees include Simon Adingra of Ivory Coast, Ronwen Williams of South Africa, and Serhou Guirassy of Guinea. However, Lookman is currently the favourite to win after his impressive performances with both Atalanta and the Nigerian national team. The award ceremony will take place in Morocco on December 16.
