Hansi Flick reveals what he will do with Lamine Yamal
Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, has outlined his plans for the deployment of rising star Lamine Yamal in the 2024/25 season.
The 17-year-old’s impressive performances during the summer have heightened expectations among Barcelona fans, and Flick has now detailed how he intends to utilize the young talent’s versatility.
In Barcelona’s league opener against Valencia, Yamal was included in the starting lineup and made an immediate impact by assisting Robert Lewandowski’s equalizer in a 2-1 victory. Flick praised Yamal’s abilities and hinted at a versatile role for him this season.
“He is a fantastic player,” Flick said, according to Goal. “I was not surprised that he was applauded at the Mestalla. He is a great player, and everyone likes a player like that. It is normal to be applauded.”

Flick mentioned that he plans to use Yamal in various positions, both on the wings and in midfield, alongside Raphinha. This flexibility is seen as a valuable asset for the team as they navigate the challenges of the season.
“They can play in several positions, and at the moment, it is necessary to have these solutions,” Flick stated. “We are focused on next week. It will be a tough match, but it is good to have three points to go to the next level.”
Yamal’s early career has already seen him achieve remarkable milestones. With five goals and five assists in 38 LaLiga appearances, he ranks just behind Bojan Krkic (10 goals, three assists) and Ansu Fati (11 goals, one assist) for teenagers with the most goal involvements before turning 18 in the 21st century.
As Barcelona prepares for the upcoming fixtures, the versatile deployment of Lamine Yamal is expected to be a key component of Hansi Flick’s strategy.
