Harry Kane shines on his 100th cap as England defeat Finland 2-0

Harry Kane marked a memorable milestone in his international career with a standout performance, scoring both goals as England secured a 2-0 victory over Finland at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Bayern Munich striker delivered on his 100th cap for the Three Lions, proving once again why he is one of the nation’s greatest forwards.

Despite dominating possession for most of the match, England initially struggled to convert their chances against a resilient Finland defense. Kane, leading the attack, saw two early efforts denied by the goalkeeper, and one goal disallowed due to an offside call. However, the breakthrough came in the 57th minute when Kane latched onto a well-placed pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold and finished with aplomb to give England the lead.

Kane doubled his tally in the 71st minute, capitalizing on a smart assist from Noni Madueke to seal the win for England. The victory was England’s second under interim manager Lee Carsley, boosting their chances in the Nations League.

After the match, Kane expressed his pride in reaching 100 appearances for England, highlighting his hunger to continue performing at the highest level despite facing doubters. His brace against Finland took his international tally to 68 goals.

“It was a big night for me, really proud,” Kane told ITV Sport. “I want to score goals and help the team. Whenever you’re doubted, it makes you hungrier to prove people wrong. I always back myself to score goals, and I’m excited for the future.”

He added, “We always looked like the team who would break the deadlock. We spoke about being ruthless, but in these games, you have to keep knocking on the door, and you will get your reward.”

The victory moves England level on points with Greece at the top of Nations League Group B, Group 2. The Three Lions will return to action in October with key fixtures against Greece and a second encounter with Finland.

For Kane, his 100th appearance was a testament to his enduring quality, and with many more matches likely ahead, the Bayern star remains crucial to England’s ambitions on the international stage.
