Hattrick: Italy Miss World Cup Again After Loss to Bosnia on Penalties

Italy have failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row after losing on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday.

The match ended 1-1 in normal time, but Bosnia won 4-1 in the penalty shootout.

Italy started well and took the lead after a mistake by Bosnia goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj. Moise Kean took advantage of the error and scored calmly, making it his second goal in two matches.

Bosnia responded strongly and kept pushing for an equaliser. Italy’s task became harder just before half-time when Alessandro Bastoni was sent off after a foul, leaving the team with ten players.

In the second half, Italy tried to defend their lead, but Bosnia continued to attack. Their pressure paid off in the 78th minute when Haris Tabaković scored to make it 1-1.

Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made several important saves to keep his team in the game, but the match went to penalties.

In the shootout, Italy missed key chances, hitting the crossbar and sending one effort over the bar, while Bosnia converted their kicks with ease to seal the win.

The result is another major disappointment for Italy, as the former world champions miss out on the World Cup once again.
